About Me

Blogger About Me

Hello, my name is Karamel. Silly name for a writer I know. (guess the movie I borrowed that line from and you'll know my favorite movie - also replace Karamel with Turkish and writer with Englishman for better context).

Hi!!
The reason for the name of this blog is pretty simple. I am a caramel colored girl living in Korea.  I moved here from Atlanta, GA on a spur of the moment - a whim if you will. I left despite the line up of a really good job and a masters in Science to teach English to kids at a private academy. I came with the impression that things might be difficult because I am not the default foreigner. Like 99% of foreigners here I'm an English teacher in my 20-somethings who lives in Seoul.

I have had some of the craziest adventures here. This blog is meant to document them.  I have lived in Korea for a while (almost 4 years to be exact). I'm not sure when I will leave. I speak enough Korean to get by. I like K-pop and Korean dramas. I hate the societies fear of all things foreign and the Confucius-based hierarchies.

In Korea I came "Seoul"(soul)-searching and I discovered myself. I've had good times and bad times, I have met amazing Koreans and some that really should just go jump over a bridge...

Good times in Seoul
I plan to marry T.O.P from Big Bang someday (I keed I keed), and I am also obsessed with PaleoCrossfit and being healthy in general. I have tried almost everything there is to try, and yes, I have also dated Korean guys. While I am not an expert on Korean life,  I am happy with  the niche I have created for myself. If you want to read about my adventures and opinions, or you're curious about life in Korea, then you're in the right place.
